About this deal

With the AquaGuard Hair Defense I have to admit that my hair felt super nourished and rejuvenated even after a swim. What lured me towards buying it, was knowing it is specifically formulated for swimmers.

This product is free from parabens and therefore I found it really gentle on my hair. It made my hair feel very soft, manageable and more so, nourished. Stream2Sea is a reef-safe leave-in conditioner. Their products are eco-conscious and biodegradable, ensuring that they not only protect users from the sun and sea but also minimize the environmental impact. Apply a Leave-in Conditioner or Oil: A leave-in conditioner or oil coats your hair to form a protective barrier against harmful pool chemicals or salt and provide added moisture to prevent dryness.

It’s easy to use: simply spray evenly on towel-dried hair before and after swimming or sun exposure, and there’s no need to rinse. Users rave about its effectiveness, saying it leaves their hair soft and manageable, reduces breakage, and even helps to control frizz. One-size-fits-all swim caps, especially those made of latex, can tug on the scalp and break hair follicles. Choose a cap made of silicone instead, and find one that is snug but not overly tight. Once wetted, comb through conditioner – your usual is fine – or argan, Moroccan or coconut oil to waterproof and condition the hair. There are two different types of products out there. Some are designed to be used before you get in the pool. They basically coat your hair in a conditioning formula so that chlorine can't react with each strand and mess with your color. Others are chlorine-stripping products that remove the chemical from your hair before you shampoo. Now coming to the one thing I do not like about this product is that the description or product bottle makes no mention about the product containing parabens or sulfates.

Here are the best leave in conditioners to protect hair from chlorine while swimming: Best Leave-In Moisturizer for Swimmers Ingredient composition: Choose a leave-in moisturizer that contains natural ingredients such as aloe vera, coconut oil, shea butter, and argan oil. These ingredients are gentle on hair, can hydrate, and also provide necessary nutrients to maintain healthy hair. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water. When your body is hydrated, your hair is too. Well-moisturized hair is less susceptible to damage from external factors. Condition: Apply a regular conditioner or leave-in conditioner after swimming. Swimming can be drying to hair, so it’s important to replenish lost moisture.

2. Choose The Right Cap

Your shampoo should contain a chelating element to bind these chemicals. As well as special shampoos, here are a couple of self-help strategies. Pre-swim protection

Pool water also contains copper compounds used to control algae growth. When copper interacts with chlorine, it can form greenish compounds. The green tint is particularly noticeable in blonde or light-colored hair. The greenish tinge isn’t the dye being washed out but rather a deposit of the greenish compound on the hair. The AquaGard pre-swim barrier cream stops the greenish copper deposits from binding to your hair with its hair waterproofing technology. During your pre-swim rinse, thoroughly wet your hair with water. This simple soak will minimize the amount of water your hair can absorb afterward. For added protection, apply a pre-swim protecting gel before donning a cap.Moisture Barrier: Leave-in conditioners provide a protective layer on the hair, sealing in moisture. When you swim, chlorinated or salt water can strip your hair of its natural oils, leaving it dry and brittle. By applying a leave-in conditioner, you’re giving your hair an extra layer of moisture protection.

I love the natural ingredients it contains like almond, oil, shea butter and aloe vera, which lured me into buying this product because I know it is going to be a super nourishing and moisturizing blend of ingredients and it sure was! This product literally had everything I wanted in a conditioner, from being paraben free, and phthalate free, to giving colour-protection for my colour-treated hair and had superb moisturizing properties.

You might assume that swimming hats – hi-tech silicone or retro rubbery flowers – are the obvious choice to prevent damage, but their job is not actually to keep hair dry, but to streamline your movement through the water.
